The Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games has launched a nationwide competition to give children across the UK the opportunity to design an official mascot for the Games.

Children who submit a design can win tickets to the Opening Ceremony in 2022, and the competition follows the world’s first Virtual Mascot Summit – hosted by Commonwealth Games England President and Olympic heptathlete Denise Lewis.


Manchester United and England forward Marcus Rashford, 22, has become the youngest person to receive an honorary doctorate from the University of Manchester, following his campaign for free school meals.

The award – the highest the University can bestow – comes after Rashford campaigned against child poverty and forced a u-turn in Government policy that say 1.3m children receive free school meal vouchers throughout the summer holidays.


Sky Sports has won the rights to the British & Irish Lions’ tour of South Africa next year, marking the 7th successive tour it has broadcast.

The pay-TV platform will show the three Test matches as well as the five warm up matches, alongside a host of build up shows and pundit-based digital coverage.


The R&A has launched it’s first ever esports event, with the inaugural e-Open to begin this summer from 13th July.

Using the WGT by TopGolf game, the virtual stroke play tournament will take place virtually across the links of Royal St Georges, with a grand final showdown set for September.


Blueprint Sports & Entertainment have appointed two new senior hires, as Chris Nee joins as Head of the newly formed Blueprint Studios and Sarah Weinman Picken lands as Marketing Manager.

Nee joins with experience from We Are Social and McCann Central, while Picken brings with her an extensive client list having served at Sydney-based We Are Different PR.


St George’s Park, the home of all 27 England football teams, has reopened following closure as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Home to the National Football Centre and a 228-bed Hilton hotel, St Georges Park also provides an important HQ for players with long term injuries to rehabilitate, and has now been established as clear to return to business.
