The ECB has made a series of new appointments to its Board of Directors, following the organisation’s welcoming of Ian Watmore as its new Chair.

Watmore officially succeeded Colin Graves in the role, taking over at the ECB’s AGM, where a number of Board changes were announced.

The updates will see Brenda Trenowden take over from the retiring Lord Kamlesh Patel as the Board’s Senior Independent Director, and also chair the expanded Environmental, Social and Governance sub-committee, while Barry O’Brien will take over as Deputy Chair, and Alan Dickinson will chair an enhanced Finance, Audit and Risk sub-committee.

Simon Greenberg, has joined The Athletic as Head of International, Business and Corporate Development.

Greenberg joins the digital sports journalism platform from his role as Head of Dow Jones Sports Intelligence, having previously served in senior roles at News International and Chelsea FC.

“I am extremely excited by this new role and feel privileged to be leading the next stages of The Athletic’s international expansion, business and corporate development,” said Greenberg.

“The Athletic is at the vanguard of innovation, creativity and disruption in quality digital sports journalism. I am certain that with our fantastic editorial, other business function teams and dynamic leadership, there will be great opportunities for us globally in the rapidly changing sports media landscape.”

The Sport Industry Awards 2020: Online Edition goes live tomorrow morning, and will see a host of familiar faces announce the winners of the industry’s biggest awards.

On Thursday 3rd September at 10.00am, a brand-new digital hub will house the victory announcements for all 18 categories… the countdown has already begun here.

The British and Irish Lions have opened the supporter ticket ballot for the 2021 Tour to South Africa.

This is the first time that standalone Test match tickets will be available for supporters to purchase, and will allow fans to apply for a pair of tickets for each of the three Tests against the Springboks.

The Lions, meanwhile, have also launched a new series of ticket-inclusive travel packages separate to the ballot, which have also gone on sale.

Meanwhile, the Rugby League World Cup 2021 has also launched a new hospitality ticketing scheme for the competition which takes place in England next year.

The hospitality scheme, which is being managed by MatchPoint, will be available for each of the men’s, women’s and wheelchair tournaments, hosted at 21 venues across England.

Tournament organisers say they have guaranteed refunds for all hospitality purchases if government restrictions lead to a reduction in event capacity force the cancellation of the event.

Hibernian striker Jamie Gullan has signed to 77 Sports Management, joining fellow Hibs players Ryan Porteous and Fraser Murray at the agency, alongside Caroline Weir of Manchester City.

The agency counts three-time Grand Slam tennis champion Andy Murray as a mentor to its athletes, while co-founders Matt Gentry and Gawain Davies handle commercial, marketing and media matters.

In 2019, the agency also welcomed former Chelsea and England defender Graeme Le Saux as a football consultant.
