Extreme E and energy transition think tank Enel Foundation have confirmed their first joint science research project to take place in the purpose-built science laboratory onboard the series’ floating centrepiece, the St. Helena.
Extreme E has been working with the Enel Foundation, the championship’s Founding Scientific Partner, since its inception, and last year the two organisations collaborated to launch the championship’s open call for research named ‘Racing for the Planet.’ The call invited international scientific researchers to apply to join the ship to conduct research to advance the knowledge of the consequences of climate change and/or adaptation and mitigation strategies on the world’s oceans and the Planet.
The resulting project is led by Belgian Alexander Vanhaelen, and is centred around investigating changes to marine life due to climate change. Vanhaelen will join the St Helena’s championship journey as it departs from Greenland – where the series will hold its Arctic X Prix – at the beginning of September.
Ukactive has launched a new consultation to examine fitness and leisure provision for disabled people in the UK.
The consultation is open to all gyms, fitness, and leisure facilities in the UK until the end of September and asks for details of the measures that have been implemented to cater for disabled people and facilitate their participation – with the findings and recommendations set to be published in December.
The work forms part of ukactive’s Everyone Can agenda, which is supported by Sport England, and aims to help remove the barriers to physical activity for disabled people by ensuring that fitness and leisure operators are supported to continue to improve access to their services.
Event organiser SweetSpot has announced that Sigma Sports will partner with its Tour of Britain and Women’s Tour events in 2021 as the Official Retail Partner.
The organisation will partner with Britain’s elite male and female professional cycling events and builds on the success of the partnership at the last running of both events in 2019, which saw Sigma Sports producing behind the scenes content from both events across their channels.
Sigma will also present the Sigma Sports Points jersey in the Women’s Tour, awarded to the race’s most consistent finisher.
