Formula 1’s mid-season break – the summer shutdown – has been brought forward to March and April in a move supported unanimously by the F1 Strategy Group and F1 Commission.

The shutdown usually lasts for two weeks in August, but in addition to the move, it has also been extended to 21 days. 


The NFL has announced that it is making its Game Pass OTT service free to fans internationally until 31st July.

The move comes in response to the coronavirus pandemic, and mirrors a similar offer from fellow US league the NBA. The elite basketball competition is also making ts League Pass service free to fans over the coming weeks after it suspended competition because of the virus.

Meanwhile, Football Manager is also making its game available for free for the next week. The game is available to all until 25th March as the UK population enters into a period of home working and social distancing.


The National League will ask the FA for £17m fund to keep all 68 clubs who play in the top two tiers of non-league football in England afloat, according to reports in The Athletic.

The league, which features the Vanarama National League as well as the National League North and National League South, had previously asked its clubs to confirm what money they would lose in the event no football was played until June. 


Former England and Manchester United star turned Sky Sports pundit Gary Neville has confirmed that he will make accommodation at his hotels free of charge to NHS staff.

176 beds at his two Manchester hotels – the Stock Exchange Hotel and Hotel Football at Old Trafford, which he co-owns with former teammate and Wales manager Ryan Giggs – will be available for medical workers who need accommodation, while the hotels will be closed to the public. READ MORE


In light of the coronavirus pandemic, adidas has announced that its City Runs platform will go virtual.

As social distancing measures come into force, the brand is also extending the entry deadline for its 1 hour challenge until 22nd March.


Five-time football freestyle World Champion & MMA athlete Andrew Henderson has signed with sports marketing and management agency Blueprint Sports.

Blueprint will be working across the commercial areas of Henderson’s brand, and the athlete joins Tony Adams and Christian Fuchs at the agency. Recently, Blueprint also launched a new entertainment division, including grime legend D Double E, Youtubers Denz & Renz, and The Chicken Connoisseur


Green technology company Envision Group – the majority owners of Formula E Team Envision Virgin Racing – have established a new centre to produce 100,000 face masks per day in response to the coronavirus pandemic.

The ‘Envision Smile Manufacturing Centre’ has been operational since 1st March and was launched in just 15 days. It will have three production lines, where masks made will be donated to businesses, schools and communities in China, Japan, South Korea and other locations to help fight against the outbreak.


Extreme wellness brand Spartan has developed a home fitness programme to stay active during lockdowns, as part of its goal of encouraging 100-million people to get off of the couch. Those who have signed up to one of Spartan’s events will get access to free BEUNBREAKABLE content such as home workouts, motivational talks and nutritional advice. 

The workout is devised by Spartan Director of Training Sam Stauffer, and we’ve included below to get you started. Watch the video here

 

 

Warm up:

Get your central nervous system turned on and muscles warmed up with these five exercises: 

1.    Leg Cradle (8-10 each leg) 
2.    Body-Weight Squat (10) 
3.    Single Leg Deadlift with reach (8/10 each side)
4.    Arm Circles (8 each side forwards and backwards)
5.    Ballistic Flings/ Jumping Jacks (30 secs) 

Repeat as many times as it takes to feel ready to take on the workout.

Workout

The workout is split into two tri-sets, followed by an intense double-set to finish. Perform each exercise within each set for 1 minute back to back, only resting after the last exercise is complete. Rest for 1-2 minutes (or as long as it takes to recover) and repeat the set.

Stauffer recommends that you perform each set 3-4 times for maximum results. Once you have completed the set at least 3 times, move onto the next. All exercises have regressions and progressions to suit your ability.

Tri-set 1:  
1.    Dips 
2.    Reverse Lunge to Knee Drives (30 secs each side)  
3.    Active Plank

    Tri-set 2: 
1.    Side Squat (30 secs each side)
2.    Rear Foot Elevated Split Squat (30 secs each side)
3.    Chop (30 secs each side)

Double-set: 
1.    Flings/ Mountain Climbers
2.    Spartan Burpee!
