It has been a painstaking piece of work involving stakeholders from across the industry but will hopefully simplify our regulation and greatly increase understanding and accessibility to the rules. The new website will also encourage and facilitate digital engagement.”
The International Tennis Federation (ITF) has launched its new Wheelchair Tennis Development Plan, which is designed to continue the growth of the discipline.
The Development Plan will benefit from an annual investment of $1m in wheelchair tennis from Kosmos as part of its Davis Cup partnership with the ITF, alongside support from the Cruyff Foundation. The ITF will seek to ensure additional investment in wheelchair tennis through new commercial partnerships.
The three core objectives that have been identified through the Development Plan are increasing the number of wheelchair tennis players; increasing the number and geographical spread of national associations offering wheelchair tennis activities; and developing talented players, particularly from under-resourced and under-represented nations.
