South Africa Rugby CEO Jurie Roux has warned that the British and Irish Lions tour may not be ‘commercially viable’ if games are played behind closed doors and travelling fans can’t make their way to the country.

At a press conference, Roux said that, even by the time the Tour is supposed to get underway in July 2021, “travelling for international events will likely still be under more pressure than pre-Covid.

“No spectators and people not being able to travel would not make this commercially viable and then we would discuss how we continue with the Tour.”

The international women’s cricket series between England and South Africa has been called off because of restrictions placed on teams travelling from South Africa.

Despite the situation, the ECB says it remains committed to hosting international women’s cricket and has held talks with other countries with a view to playing in a bio-secure venue as it has done with several men’s series against the West Indies, Ireland and Pakistan so far this summer.

Halfords and Caterham Cars have entered into an exclusive three-year partnership which will see the brand support the series’ mechanics throughout its motorsport race series.

The trackside team looks after over 100 race cars at every race weekend, and the deal will see them use Halfords Advanced precision hand tools, which will be in use for the first time at Thruxton in late August.

Halfords says the move will demonstrate the ability of the product to deliver in the ‘heat of competition’ as well as displaying the company’s confidence in its tools’ lifetime guarantee

Clarity Sports has today announced an extension to its partnership with Saracens, extending their role as the Official Travel Provider until 2023.

The partnership will see Clarity Sports provide team travel for the Gallagher Premiership side’s men’s and women’s teams, as well as business travel. It will also extend the service the club’s netball team, Saracens Mavericks.

Clarity’s consumer arm, Sportsbreaks.com, will also deliver supporter travel packages for a selection of Saracens’ domestic and future European fixtures.
