Manchester City have announced a new global partnership with Chinese home appliance brand Midea.

The club says the brand will be present around the Etihad Stadium this season through integrated branding and activations on-site. Midea is also said to be planning a digital campaign for the remainder of the 2019/2020 season.

The BBC has revealed its viewing figures for the FA Cup third round, claiming a reach of 16m across its live coverage as well as its Football Focus magazine show.

The broadcaster says it attracted a peak audience of 7.2m on its BBC One coverage of Sunday’s Merseyside derby and 6.1m for Arsenal’s victory over Leeds on the Monday night. That game was followed by the draw for the competition’s fourth round.

Real Madrid have partnered with IMG to commercialise the club’s Digital Overlay advertising on the perimeter boards at the Santiago Bernabéu ground.

The Spanish giants, in partnership with AIM Sport, have implemented Digital Overlay technology for La Liga and Copa del Rey matches, allowing the club to customise the LED advertising boards to show different messages in different regions.

The deal between Real Madrid and IMG will also see the international agency develop regional partnerships for the club in Asia and North America.

Sunderland owner Stewart Donald has confirmed plans to sell the club.

Citing pressure from fan groups as a reason for the sale, the Black Cats board has commenced the process of identifying a preferred bidder for the club.

Donald, who bought the club from American owner Ellis Short in 2018, said upon his arrival that he wouldn’t “outstay [his] welcome”, and the board now says it has no option but to put the club up for sale.
