Manchester City has begun advertising for social influencers to promote the Etihad Stadium matchday experience in a bid to maintain attendances in the early stages of the Champions League.

The club says its group stage draw, with Atalanta, Shakhtar Donetsk, and Dinamo Zagreb, pits the team against three ‘relatively unknown’ sides and makes fans less likely to attend. As a workaround, the club has posted a request on influencer marketing platform Tribe to ask for Facebook and Instagram personalities to promote the club’s matchday experience in a bid to raise crowds.

Meanwhile, Etihad Airways has unveiled a new Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner decked in City branding. The plane will fly to multiple destinations around the world in the coming months.

Having raised over $1m in a crowdfunding campaign, Slinger Bag will task Brandnation with increasing brand awareness among tennis fans. The agency will deliver an influencer marketing programme as well as amplifying the brand’s sponsored talent and social media.
