Manchester City have announced a range of vegan items which will be available stadium wide, as well as a host of partnerships with local Manchester street food vendors who will serve food at the stadium.

The Premier League Champions have also introduced 100% recyclable and zero-plastic beer cups as well as ‘edible coffee cups’.

The cups can be eaten instead of being thrown away to minimise waste, however the club has confirmed that fans won’t have to eat the cups after use – and can dispose of them through the club’s compostable waste streams ‘if preferred’.

Meanwhile, Liverpool and Quorn have launched a similar initiative, unveiling a new pie for the club this season.

The ‘sustainable new half-time treat’ could cut over 100 tonnes of carbon emissions in just one game, according to the pair.

The club says the meat-free pie would save the figure if all spectators made the change, which is the equivalent of lighting up Anfield for 33 seasons.According to the club and its Official Sustainable Protein Partner, almost half (45%) of football fans have ‘experimented with a non-meat or flexitarian diet’, while 78% would change their diets to help the planet.
