The Exeter Chiefs have announced the creation of a new women’s team, the first to be affiliated with the Devon club.
Former England internationals Susie Appleby and Amy Garnett have been appointed as Head Coach and Assistant Coach respectively, and the duo will take over in the new year. The club says it will begin wider operations with immediate effect as it aims to take part in the Tyrell’s Premier 15s League for the 2020/21 season.
M&C Saatchi Sport and Entertainment has announced a new management team for the agency’s Berlin branch.
Simona Schapiro and Jannis Klausch will take over as Managing Directors in Berlin, replacing Torsten Wirwas, who will leave the agency after seven years in order to take on a new role in a different sector. Both appointments are internal promotions of agency figures who the company says have contributed significantly to the agency’s growth in recent years.
Villa Park – home of Premier League side Aston Villa – will no longer be a host venue for the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham.
It is anticipated that the start of the football season will begin earlier in the 2022/23 season as a result of the November start for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. As a result, the ground cannot commit to hosting events at the Commonwealth Games.
The Homeless World Cup Foundation says it has had 57 bids from cities aiming to be the host venue for the tournament after it launched its first formal bidding process in partnership with The Sports Consultancy.
The yearly tournament is choosing host cities for 2021-2024 competitions and says it will evaluate a shortlist of candidate cities in February and March 2020 before announcing the winning bids in June 2020, at the next tournament in Tampere, Finland.
