The Rugby League World Cup 2021 (RLWC 2021) has launched a new Mental Fitness Charter, aimed at promoting positive mental health among fans and players.

RLWC 2021 organisers say that, by the final game of the tournament, every player, team official, match official and volunteer will have been trained to look after their own mental fitness as well as that of those around them.

Prince Harry, the Duke of Sussex, has long been an advocate for mental health issues and has lent his support to the programme, which organisers say is the first of its kind for a major international sporting event. The Duke also played a role in the tournament draw, which took place at Buckingham Palace.


Tournament organisers for tennis’s Australian Open have confirmed that this month’s tournament will go ahead, despite concerns over air quality created by smoke from bushfires.

“There is a lot of speculation about the Australian Open not happening, or starting later,” said tournament director Craig Tiley. “The Australian Open is happening.”

Slovenian player Dalila Jakupovic retired from her qualifying match after a coughing fit, while other players competing in qualifying have reported breathing difficulties and headaches.

Leading figures from across the sporting sector have lent their support the bushfire cause in a range of intiatives.


Tough Mudder’s Board of Directors and majority shareholder, Will Dean, have consented to bankruptcy proceedings.

Active Sport has appointed marketing and communications agency Fusion Media to handle the PR brief for its Vélo Series. 

Fusion’s brief is to lead on PR strategy with the aim of elevating event awareness and driving ticket sales with the use of PR and influencer marketing. This will include the Vélo Birmingham and Midlands sportive, as well as future Vélo Series events. 


Technical golf brand Sunderland of Scotland has become an Official Licensee for the 2020 Ryder Cup.

The brand has a long-standing relationship with the event, having first produced outerwear for the then-Great Britain and Ireland team for the 1965 tournament at Royal Birkdale.
