Rugby League World Cup 2021 (RLWC2021) has confirmed dates for its rescheduled 2022 tournament, which will now take place between 15th October and 19th November 2022. The event was postponed earlier this year after New Zealand and Australia pulled out, citing COVID-19 fears.

Organisers have also announced that the opening match and the men’s and women’s double header finals will be played, as originally planned, at St James’ Park, Newcastle and Old Trafford, Manchester respectively.

The move also sees the tournament move one week earlier than scheduled in 2021 to ‘maximise attendance and viewership’, as the tournament will fall between the already-scheduled 2022 Commonwealth Games and the 2022 FIFA World Cup meaning that existing broadcast partners will continue to air all 61 games throughout the tournament, according to RLWC2021.

Crystal Palace has announced the University of Roehampton as the Club’s Official Higher Education Partner.

The University of Roehampton initially joined the club as a local partner in the summer of 2018 and, since then, Roehampton students have been offered a wide range of project work and placement opportunities by the club.

The announcement of the Official Partnership will see the club continue to support the University of Roehampton students with work experience and project work opportunities, as well as supplying guest lecturers, attending careers events and offering discounted student tickets to Crystal Palace Women’s matches. The University will also get pitch side LED visibility, as well as on first-team highlights. Its logo will also appear on the women’s team’s kits.

The three-week tournament, which kicks off on 26th August, will see West Indies stars including Chris Gayle, Nicholas Pooran, and Kieron Pollard, face off against each other.

The broadcast adds to BT Sport’s multi-year agreement to broadcast all domestic and international cricket from the West Indies, which has already seen South Africa, Australia and Pakistan tour the Caribbean this summer.
