Organisers of the Rugby League World Cup 2021 have confirmed that the event will go ahead as scheduled in October and November 2021.

61 matches across three competitions will take place at 21 venues, culminating with the men’s and women’s finals at Old Trafford on 27th November.

According to organisers, ticket sales have so far ‘exceeded expectations’, while the positive social contribution of the event to local communities throughout the pandemic has been ‘extensive’.

Meanwhile, Limelight Sports Club has also announced that its ASICS London 10K will go ahead on the streets of Westminster on Sunday 25th July 2021, when 14,000 registered runners will take part.

The event will also see participants contribute to a global study into the effect of movement on metal wellbeing through the ASICS Mind Uplifter Tool.

The tool will aim to show the ‘positive impact’ of the run on the participants, while the event will also raise money for mental health charity Mind.

Premier League side Burnley has agreed a deal with global payment solution AstroPay, which will become the Clarets’ sleeve sponsor for the 2021/22 season.

The brand is returning to the sleeve after last partnering with the club in the 2018/19 season, when the Official Payment Solutions Partner supported the Clarets’ return to European competition for the first time in more than half a century.

The company will again have their logo on the sleeve of the new-look first-team strip for the upcoming campaign, when Sean Dyche’s men will play their sixth successive season of Premier League football.

The ECB has confirmed that Derbyshire Falcons’ final two Vitality Blast group-stage matches have been cancelled after 14 team members are self-isolating due to being close contacts of a positive COVID-19 case, while an additional six players are injured.

The ECB says it has determined that the club is unable to field a ‘team of a strength appropriate to maintain the integrity of the two matches and of the competition as a whole’.

The team was due to play the Northamptonshire Steelbacks and the Yorkshire Vikings on 16th and 18th July respectively in their two remaining group-stage matches. The games will now be cancelled, and points decided on an ‘average points per completed match basis’.

The launch of the PTO’s multi-event triathlon Fantasy Game follows the PTO’s Race Data and Statistics site which gives fans of the sport unrestricted access to current and historical racing data and spans three initial events.

The first edition will be launched alongside the Zwift Tri Battle Royale where fans will predict the Swim, Bike, Run and Transition times for the 18th Jul event. The second will take place at the triathlong races at the rescheduled Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games with fans aiming to predict the podiums in the men’s and women’s events as well as the inaugural edition of the Mixed Relay race.

The third will be the inaugural Collins Cup, which takes place this summer and pits European, US, and International teams against each other in a Ryder Cup style competition.
