Industry Shorts: Rugby League World Cup 2021, La Liga TV

Global digital sports consultancy Seven League has been announced as the strategic gaming and esports partner for Rugby World Cup 2021 (RLWC2021) after a tender process.

RLWC2021 says its aim is to transcend Rugby League and connect with new audiences as it looks to engage with fans and communities in England, the tournament’s host nation. The partnership will explore the positive impact that gaming and esports can have on the competition.


La Liga and Premier Sports have launched LaLigaTV, which has gone live in UK for the first time.

As part of the rights deal with the subscription based channel, La Liga announced that its 24/7 LaLigaTV channel would come to Premier Sports’ OTT offering Premier Player. The broadcaster will offer LaLigaTV as part of a package with its own channels, or as a standalone package for a smaller subscription fee. 


World Sailing has announced that CEO Andy Hunt is to step down from his role in December, before taking on a new role in sport from early 2020.

Hunt spent four years as CEO of World Sailing, having previously been CEO of the BOA and having served as Team GB Chef de Mission at the Olympic Games London 2012.


British Athletics has appointed PHAR Partnerships to provide evaluation and consultancy as it looks for a presenting partner.

The national governing body whose Chair Chris Clark, spoke about commercial opportunities for British sport along with British Gymnastics and British Swimming this week, is attempting to find a sponsor brand to become the lead partner of athletics in the UK from 2020 onwards.


Silverstone has appointed MATCHHospitality as its Official Hospitality Partner from the start of the 2020 motorsport calendar.

MATCH will manage the circuit’s hospitality portfolio across events including the Formula 1 British Grand Prix, MotoP and British Superbike races.
