Celtic have been confirmed as Scottish Premiership champions after the division’s 12 clubs agreed to terminate the season early.
At a Board meeting, it was decided that the average points per game metric would be used to determine final placings. That decision has seen Celtic crowned champions, and will see Hearts relegated.
The ICC’s Cricket Committee has recommended changes to rules in order to ensure safety at matches when the game returns to play.
The proposed measures include banning saliva on the match ball, but while there is no evidence that the virus can be passed on through sweat, polishing the ball using sweat will not be prohibited.
BT Sport has published the viewing figures for the Bundesliga action, with a reach of 1.4 million people watching the first game across TV and digital platforms.
Saturday afternoon’s match between Borussia Dortmund and Schalke 04 saw 1.2 million watch on linear TV, with an extra 200k watching on BT’s digital channels. According to the broadcaster, the game attracted an audience five times larger than that of the season’s best-performing Bundesliga game so far.
The FA says it is consulting with clubs on terminating the women’s football season.
The governing body for football in England says its ‘primary concern’ is for the welfare of clubs and players, but has pointed to the ‘significant challenges’ involved in finishing the campaign.
In a statement, it said: “Following an assessment of the protocols required to return to football and feedback from clubs, which is crucial to any decision-making process, it is clear that there will be significant challenges in completing the 2019-20 season.
“We’re continuing to consult with the clubs on the possibility of terminating the 2019-20 season and, in the event it is decided that this appears to be the only realistic way forward, to seek views on the most appropriate sporting outcome for the season.”
Extreme E has made three new hires to bolster its commercial and operations teams ahead of its 2021 launch.
The all-electric SUV motorsport series has appointed Rachael Moore, who worked on the FIA World Rallycross at IMG, and most recently at the Dakar Rally 2020, as its Events Manager.
Meanwhile, the series has also appointed Tom Julius, who joins from GOAT Agency, and Harry Ellard who joins from Silverstone, where he was the youngest person to have held the circuit’s Operations and Hospitality Manager role.
UEFA has postponed its latest Executive Committee meeting, which was due to take place on 27th May.
The meeting will take place on 17th June, and UEFA says the change has been made because ‘open points’ remain over a ‘small number’ of EURO 2020 venues. The tournament will take place in the summer of 2021.
