Sportswear manufacturer Under Armour has unveiled up-and-coming motor-racing driver Mick Schumacher as a brand ambassador.

The 20-year-old Formula 2 rookie, who is the son of seven-time Formula 1 world champion Michael Schumacher, is the reigning Formula 3 champion.

Last week, ahead of the Bahrain Formula 1 Grand Prix, the German posted the second-fastest time on the track in a Ferrari on Tuesday before finishing with the sixth-fastest time in an Alfa Romeo the following day.

Schumacher will now train in Under Armour’s apparel for the remainder of the 2019 season, with the sportswear company having also announced a new product range, UA Rush, to coincide with the endorsement deal.

As part of the partnership, Schumacher will be able to use the facilities at Under Armour’s Center for Performance Innovation in Portland, known as UA PDX.

Schumacher joins a growing list of high-profile European Under Armour ambassadors, including British boxer Anthony Joshua, French judo great Teddy Riner, Austrian Alpine skier Marcel Hirscher and British taekwondo star Jade Jones.

Matrix will also continue to provide equipment to the Renault Sport Academy, the centrepiece of the team’s development programme for young drivers.
