Former England netball coach Tracey Neville has fronted a new campaign by health insurance provider Vitality to highlight the barriers to exercise faced by new mums.
The firm says a new study asked 1,000 mothers of babies aged 0-12 months old about the pressures they have faced as new mums and how their effects have been exacerbated by the coronavirus lockdown. In a bid to overcome these challenges and help mums get back in to exercise safely, Vitality has launched a new Baby to Baller series – a free, six week exercise programme created especially for new mums by Neville who gave birth to her first child in March. A Premier League working group is expected to put proposals to clubs on fallback solutions if the 2020/21 season has to be curtailed due to coronavirus.
According to a report in The Guardian, the working group will present the ‘worst-case scenario’ proposals to clubs in early September which could see a ‘variety of scenarios’ discussed, including playing on through a second wave of infections or curtailing the season with the current standings taken as final placings.
Meanwhile, former Premier League Chief Executive Richard Scudamore has been appointed to the board of RedBall Acquisition Corp, set up by RedBird Capital Founder Gerry Cardinale and Billy Beane.
RedBall announced the closing of its initial public offering worth $575 million (£474 million) earlier in August, and will place ‘a focus on professional sports franchises, which complement the management team’s expertise’. FIFA has temporarily adapted its rules which require clubs to release players for international matches.
The move has been made because of local quarantine periods, which would require some players to spend time in self-isolation either before or after representing their countries in international matches over the coming months.
