Dutch financial services firm ING has appointed marketing agency Iris to handle
the brand’s global advertising account to support its F1 sponsorship deals for
the 2008 season.
Iris will be responsible for leveraging ING’s title sponsorship of the
Renault F1 team as well its naming rights deals for both the Australian and
Belgian Grands Prix.
The agency won the multimillion-pound account following a final pitch against
VCCP, with the process overseen directly by Gabor Dani, marketing manager for
ING’s F1 programme.
The two agencies were put in a final pitch against each other after picked
from the original shortlist of six which involved RGA, Glue London, Inferno and
Exposure.
Iris will now create a range of campaigns spanning TV, direct, press
advertising, online and experiential marketing with the first activity scheduled
to launch in March in time for the start of the 2008 season.
Media planning and buying will continue to be managed by ING’s local agencies
around the world.
