Investec has ended its commercial partnership with the Rugby Football Union, putting an end to a sponsorship dating back to December 1998.

Over the following 12 years England have won a World Cup and four Six Nations titles, including a Grand Slam.

It means that England’s fixture against Wales at Twickenham Stadium on 6th August will be the last under Investec’s sponsorship.

Raymond van Niekerk, Investec’s head of global marketing said: ‘The Investec brand was almost unknown in the UK before that first match against the ‘Boks in 1998’.

‘Our sponsorship of the Autumn Internationals really helped establish us in the UK and it also helped the Investec brand in Australia and South Africa’.

The International between England and Wales will be the 35th England fixture that Investec have sponsored.

Paul Vaughan, business operations director of the RFU added: ‘Investec’s support over the past 12 years has enabled the RFU to invest in all levels of the game from grassroots to the elite over a number of years’.

‘They have been an outstanding partner that always looked for a creative way to sponsor England’s Autumn Internationals. We’d like to wish them well for the future’.
