Investec has signed GB and England Hockey players and Olympic stars Alex Danson and Maddie Hinch as brand ambassadors. The pair will help drive brand awareness for Investec and support Investec’s sponsorship of women’s hockey from grassroots to the elite level in the UK.
Alex Danson made her senior England debut at the age of 16 and has been a part of the GB and England sides since. As a two-time Olympic medalist with bronze at London 2012 and gold at Rio 2016, Alex has achieved 98 goals in 269 appearances and 17 major international medals. She was also the joint top scorer at London 2012 and Rio 2016.
Maddie began her England career in 2008 and has since established herself as the world’s best female goalkeeper. Earlier this year Maddie’s exploits in the Olympic final, saw her repel all four of the Netherlands’ penalty attempts, including a penalty stroke during the game, which lead to Great Britain winning their first ever Olympic gold medal for women’s hockey.
Investec has been the principal partner of women’s hockey since 2011. Investec’s support covers all levels of the sport, from grass roots through to the England and Great Britain sides.
Alex said: “The past five years have been a wonderful time to be involved with women’s hockey and Investec has been a huge part of our story. I’m delighted to become an ambassador for their hockey sponsorship and am looking forward to the challenge of helping them develop their partnership further with women’s hockey up to Tokyo 2020.”
Maddie said: “Investec’s sponsorship of women’s hockey has been a game changer for our sport. As a team of 31, we worked closely with Investec on the Road to Rio, and I’m very much looking forward to working more closely with them to develop their partnership with hockey even further over the next Olympic cycle.”
Malcolm Fried, global marketing director of Investec, commented: “We are very proud to be involved in GB Women’s Hockey across all levels. Alex and Maddie embody the best of values, which makes our association so meaningful. Their drive to succeed reflects their characters and we are delighted to have them as ambassadors for our brand.”
Investec announced in January that it would be ending its long-term partnership with the ECB at the end of 2017.
