Despite being relegated from the Barclays Premiership to the Coca-Cola
Championship, Charlton Athletic is set to receive a lucrative takeover bid.

According to media speculation, a bid for the club is being put together by a
group of Middle Eastern and continental businessmen who had previously been
linked with a bid for Liverpool.

It is thought that Charlton’s London location makes it an attractive
proposition but investors looking to get into English football while the fact
that the club also own their own ground in addition to having a well-established
academy and facilities marks it out as an attractive target.

The consortium has apparently always had designs on the club regardless of
Charlton’s Premiership status, although relegation will affect the price
attached to the bid.
