Following rumours that non-GAA sports might be played at Croke Park after the redeveloped Lansdowne Road opened next year, Irish RFU has announced that no rugby or football internationals will be held at the ground after 2010.
Currently, Croke Park is used to play internationals, allowed by the IRFU and the Football Association of Ireland, until the completion of the Lansdowne Road refurbishment.
The deal was scheduled to conclude next year, and the Lansdowne Road project is due to be completed by April 2010.
Hints had been made by Clare GAA officials that following the opening of Lansdowne Road, Croke Park would be open to other sports. Clare has now a motion forward regarding the issue, which is in line to be voted on at the GAA’s annual Congress in April.
