The International Tennis Federation (ITF) has confirmed a series of updates to the tournament structures for the Davis Cup and Billie Jean King Cup, which are set to take effect in 2025.
The changes are part of a long-term strategy aimed at bringing the team competitions closer together under the World Cup of Tennis banner.
In the Davis Cup, the group stage held in September will be replaced by an additional home-or-away tie. Winners from these ties will advance to the Final 8, which remains scheduled for November. The format for next year will involve two qualifying rounds in January and September, with the top eight teams competing in the Finals.
The Billie Jean King Cup will also see changes, with the 2025 Qualifiers transitioning to a round-robin group format.
Twenty-one nations will compete across seven groups in April, with the winners progressing to the Finals in November, now reduced to eight teams. Home-or-away ties will return for the 2026 Qualifiers.

David Haggerty, ITF President said, “The format amendments aim to build on the success we have seen across both events in recent years and contributes towards our long-term ambition to bring them more in sync under the World Cup of Tennis banner.
“The move also allows us to showcase world-class tennis in more nations around the world and increase awareness and participation.”
The Lexus Great Britain Billie Jean King Cup team will head to Malaga next month,13-20 November, to face Germany in the first round of the 2024 Finals.
