Itn’s Raj Mannick Joins Yahoo UK As Head Of Sport

Yahoo has appointed Sport Industry NextGen Leader Raj Mannick as head of sport for Yahoo Sport UK.

Currently head of sport and digital at ITN, the appointment comes at a time when Yahoo UK is aiming to boost its investment in original journalism.

Yahoo recently appointed Luke James, formerly of Political Scrapbook as Brussels correspondent and Sajid Shaikh from The Guardian as Yahoo Finance’s digital production editor, plus two new video producers based in London.

Mannick will report into Nicholas Petche, editor-in-chief of Yahoo UK, join the team from May.

In his new role, Mannick will help spearhead Yahoo Sport UK’s coverage of the upcoming FIFA World Cup, creating original video content around the global event, including post game reaction, expert opinions, stats, figures, live updates and the latest breaking news.

Raj Mannick, a Sport Industry NextGen Leader in 2016, said of the appointment: “I’m delighted to join Yahoo UK’s growing editorial team at such a pivotal time in the sporting calendar. 2018 will see major global competitions such as the World Cup, Tour de France, Wimbledon and the Ryder Cup dominating the news agenda, and I’m looking forward to driving Yahoo Sport UK’s original journalism, coverage and analysis around these events, keeping Yahoo’s millions of sports fans around the world up to date on the latest.”  

Nicholas Petche added: “I’m thrilled to welcome Raj to our talented team of journalists at Yahoo UK in May. 2018 will be a key year for our sports vertical with numerous projects in the pipeline centered around this year’s must-watch tournaments and fixtures. Prior to his role of head of sport and digital, Mannick was a broadcast journalist at ITN and a sports journalist at the BBC.
