ITV announce latest broadcast deals
ITV have signed broadcast agreements for Formula E until 2027 and for UK horse racing from 2027 until 2030.
The Formula E agreement has made ITV a UK television partner of the all-electric racing championship for the next two seasons. The partnership has started with Season 11 in 2025 and will continue through Seasons 12 and 13. All 18 live races will broadcast either on ITV4, with an ITVX simulcast, or exclusively on ITVX only, with more races shown on ITV4 than ever before in 2025/26.
Formula E, which has been established as the world’s leading electric motorsport series since its launch in 2014, continues to expand its reach as global manufacturers use the platform to showcase advances in electric vehicle technology. The UK has been one of the strongest markets for electric vehicle growth, with record sales in 2024, making the new partnership strategically significant for both parties.
In a separate agreement, ITV has secured exclusive, free-to-air coverage of UK horse racing for a further four years, starting in 2027 and running until the end of 2030. The extension has ensured that 117 days of live racing will be broadcast annually across ITV1, ITV4, STV and STV Player, with all coverage simulcast on ITVX.
The contract has confirmed that the sport’s major fixtures, including the Randox Grand National, Royal Ascot, the Cheltenham Festival and the Betfred Derby, will remain available free-to-air. ITV’s horse racing coverage, which has won two BAFTAs, has reached over 15 million streams on ITVX in 2024 alone.
Peak audiences have included 5.2 million viewers for the Grand National, 5 million across five days of Royal Ascot and the highest viewing figures for the Cheltenham Festival in four years, with 1.8 million tuning in.
The two new rights agreements have underlined ITV’s position as a key free-to-air sports broadcaster in the UK, providing extensive coverage of motorsport and horse racing alongside its existing portfolio.
