ITV Boosts Rugby Ties With Heineken Cup

ITV has boosted its rugby content after agreeing a two-year deal with the ERC, organiser of the Heineken Cup and the Amlin Challenge Cup, to broadcast highlights from the rugby union events on ITV4.??

The channel boosts its rugby coffers after recently agreeing a deal to broadcast the next two IRB Rugby World Cup tournaments as well as highlights of the Aviva Premiership.?

Under the agreement for the club rugby, the digital channel will air an hour-long programme featuring highlights from both club competitions on Monday evenings, starting on 11th October at 6pm.??

Craig Doyle will present the highlights show with some guest analysts and the programme will also be made available on the channel’s catch-up service – ITV Player. ??

The Heineken Cup and Amlin Challenge Cup join ITV4’s growing sport portfolio, which includes Aviva Premiership, live UEFA Europa League, the Tour de France, Grand Slam Darts and the upcoming launch of Power Snooker.??

Niall Sloane, ITV’s controller of sport. Said: ‘The Heineken Cup is one of the biggest events in world club rugby and we’re delighted to have agreed this new deal with the ERC to bring these two tournaments to ITV4 viewers.’
