For the duration of the Brazil 2014 World Cup, ITV have teamed up with Olympic and Paralympic legacy charity, Join In, to engage with volunteers and community sports clubs for ‘ITV Fever Pitch’, an immersive football fan park in Manchester.

ITV Fever Pitch, a pop-up beach football facility, has been opening its doors to grassroots clubs and local school teams across Greater Manchester.

Throughout the group stages of the World Cup the community programme, hosted by Join In, has connected hundreds of football participants and continues to engage with social football clubs, businesses and schools through regional tournaments and children’s coaching sessions.

The community programme aims to showcase grassroots sports clubs and highlight the importance of volunteers and the vital role that they play in sport.

Over the course of the initiative, 250 Join In volunteers will give more that 5000 hours at ITV Fever Pitch, with 176 Local community groups, clubs, schools and businesses taking part in the ITV Fever Pitch Community Programme throughout the World Cup.

Join In, who claimed the Community Programme of the Year Award at this year’s BT Sport Industry Awards, and ITV announced their new partnership earlier this month, setting a target of generating interest in volunteering in community sport from a further 100,000 new volunteers.
