ITV is launching a new darts tournament that will unify players from the sport’s
two rival franchises, the Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) and the British
Darts Organisation (BDO).

The ‘Grand Slam of Darts’ will be broadcast on ITV1 and ITV4 and feature the
best players from both franchises including Phil Taylor and Raymond van
Barneveld.

Live coverage of the new tournament will be screened on both ITV channels, as
well as nightly highlights during the competition – due to run from 17th to 25th
November.

The move is the first time in many years that ITV has broadcast darts
coverage with the BBC and Sky airing the BDO and PDC tournaments respectively.

The tournament will have a prize fund of £300,000, with £80,000 for the
winner.

The grand slam event is the brainchild of Barry Hearn, the chairman of the
PDC tournament that airs on Sky.
