Soccer Aid returns to Manchester’s Old Trafford stadium for a fifth time in June with another star-studded showdown between England and the Rest of The World, with the game to be broadcast live on ITV, while T.M.Lewin has been announced as the Official Outfitter for the match, in aid of UNICEF.
T.M.Lewin will provide team suits to the celebrities and football legends set to take to the field on 8th June, as well as launch an exclusive Soccer Aid Tie, available to buy online at tmlewin.co.uk from 3rd April, with £10 from the sale of each donated to UNICEF UK.
The brainchild of Robbie Williams and UNICEF UK, this year’s event will be hosted by Dermot O’Leary with Kirsty Gallacher pitchside, reporting on all the action as it happens.
UNICEF UK ambassador, Robbie Williams, will once again lead the England team with Welsh movie star Michael Sheen returning to captain The Rest of the World.
Joining Damian Lewis, Olly Murs, John Bishop, Jonathan Wilkes and Mark Owen in this year’s England squad this year will be Jack Whitehall, True Blood’s Stephen Moyer and Doctor Who’s Matt Smith, alongside the familiar faces of TV presenters Paddy McGuinness, Ben Shephard, Bradley Walsh and Jamie Theakston.
Michael Sheen’s Rest of the World squad welcomes the return of Scottish actor James McAvoy, chef Gordon Ramsay and The Musketeers star Santiago Cabrera, alongside Westlife’s Nicky Byrne, comedian Patrick Kielty, and American new boy Man v Food presenter Adam Richman.
English football legends signed so far include Jamie Redknapp, Jamie Carragher, Paul Ince, David Seaman and Teddy Sheringham, while Edwin van der Sar and Jaap Stam are confirmed to appear for The Rest of the World, with many more high-profile names reportedly to be announced shortly.
UNICEF UK executive director, David Bull said: ‘Soccer Aid 2014 will raise vital money to help some of the world’s most vulnerable children get life-saving food, medicine and clean water. Every day, children are in serious danger and thousands die needlessly in the struggle against poverty, hunger and disease. It’s time for us all to act. Please, buy a ticket to go to Soccer Aid or watch the match on ITV and help us change children’s lives.’
T.M.Lewin CEO, Geoff Quinn, added: ‘We are truly honoured to be dressing the two teams this year, for what promises to be the most successful Soccer Aid to date. Through the sale of our official Soccer Aid tie, we’re also hoping to contribute to the cause, raising much-needed funds for vulnerable children all over the world.’
