TV, music, sport, literary and social talent management company, James Grant Group (JGG) has acquired rugby union agency Waterton Limited.

Owned and managed by former Welsh rugby union player Derwyn Jones, Waterton Limited will merge with JGG to enhance the group’s geographical reach.

Stars including British and Irish Lions captain Sam Warburton, James Hook and Australian international James O’Connor will join the likes of Jonny May, Chris Ashton, Alex Corbisiero and Dylan Hartley as part of the merge.

Derwyn joins the UK Sports board of JGG as director of global rugby with immediate effect in a move that also sees Rob Burgess appointed to the role of managing director – UK Rugby.

Derwyn said: ‘I’m delighted to have joined James Grant, their culture and values very much mirror my own and their service offering in key areas such as brand endorsement, digital and literary will be of great benefit to our clients going forward. James Grant manages exceptional talent across a broad range of complementary sectors and I am proud to enhance their roster with some of the very elite in rugby union.’

Mick McGuire, UK Sports managing director added: ‘Derwyn has built up a very strong agency in Wales and as an ex-Wales international himself, understands both the demands and opportunities modern Rugby brings. We now have real scale in rugby and as we fast approach 2015 and the forthcoming World Cup, we’re excited about the future.’
