The Japanese F1 Grand Prix will alternate between Suzuka and Fuji Speedway
racetracks from 2009, the sport’s governing body has announced.
The Toyota-run Fuji Speedway is due to stage the race both this year and next
before the Honda-owned Suzuka track takes its turn again in 2009.
Fuji hosted the first Japanese Grand Prix in 1976 but the race was axed from
the F1 calendar after 1977.
F1 returned to Japan in 1987, with Suzuka hosting every Grand Prix until this
year and establishing itself as a firm favourite with the drivers.
This year’s Japanese Grand Prix takes place at Fuji Speedway on 30th
September.
