JCB has announced it will be supporting Sir Ben Ainslie’s Land Rover BAR team as they look to #BringTheCupHome in the America’s Cup, in Bermuda over the summer.
JCB has committed a range of machinery to help the team both at its Portsmouth base and also in Hamilton, Bermuda.
Both Land Rover BAR and JCB also have a commitment to developing the next generation. As well as the boat skippered by Ben Ainslie himself, JCB’s engineering capabilities will benefit the Land Rover BAR Academy team competing in the Red Bull Youth America’s Cup, also in Bermuda.
JCB chairman Lord Bamford said: “To have the opportunity to support a British team in this legendary event with our machinery is very exciting. Both Land Rover BAR and JCB focus on innovation and bringing together the best engineering talent and we wish Ben every success against the competition in Bermuda.”
Sir Ben Ainslie, team principal and skipper, Land Rover BAR, added: “The 35th America’s Cup will be fought out against some of the best sailors in the world. Knowing we have the support of such an iconic engineering company in JCB is fantastic. The crews both on and off the water need the best equipment to allow us to perform at this level, this partnership really allows us to do that.”
