Sports fashion retailer JD Sports has agreed a new deal with British boxing promoter Frank Warren and his pay-TV network BoxNation to sponsor three fights throughout November and December.

The partnership kicked off this weekend, with JD title sponsoring Dereck Chisora’s fight with Ondrej Pala for the European heavyweight title.

Chisora defended his WBO International title and took the vacant WBA International belt with a third-round stoppage at London’s Copper Box Arena, where Frank Warren signed a deal to stage six fights earlier this year.

JD Sports will also support two more arena events that have been scheduled before the end of 2013, all of which will be screened live on the station.

Paul Butler and Ruben Montoya will fight for the WBO and WBA intercontinental super flyweight title at The Echo Arena in Liverpool on 7th December before Stuart Hall takes on Vusi Malinga and Frankie Gavin faces Joseph Lamptey at the Leeds Arena on 21st December.

As part of the sponsorship, JD will have extensive branding at the events and will run a series of in-store promotions for fans.

JD’s group marketing director Stephen White said: ‘This is an exciting partnership for JD, these are three big events on the boxing calendar and we are pleased to support them.  It’s great to see Frank Warren and BoxNation showcasing the UK’s home grown talent to the masses and we look forward to working closely with Frank and his team to enhance the boxing fan’s, and our customers’, experience.’

Frank Warren added: ‘A partnership such as this underlines the appeal of boxing to the sports fan and we are delighted to have the support of such an aspirational brand like JD on board. Support like this allows us to continue the investment in our great boxing talent which will help the sport and the boxers continue to flourish.’
