Formula 1 outfit BWT Racing Point have appointed Jefferson Slack as new Managing Director of Commercial and Marketing.

Slack joins the team with a 30-year career within the sport industry, which includes working with Michael Jordan during the 1990s and becoming the first American CEO of a top European football club – Inter Milan – in 2000. He’s also spent time agency-side at both Wasserman and IMG, and more recently has worked as an adviser to FIBA and Dorna.

Slack will join the team owned by Canadian billionaire Lawrence Stroll with immediate effect, and will be responsible for all commercial and marketing activities.

His appointment comes ahead of BWT Racing Point’s rebrand as Aston Martin F1 Team.

On his appointment, Slack said: “I believe this is one of the most exciting commercial opportunities, not just in Formula 1, but in the whole sports industry. We are looking to build an iconic new sports brand in Aston Martin F1 Team and in the process we believe we will create a unique global marketing platform for other brands and partners.

“I am looking forward to working with Lawrence, and building a world-class commercial and marketing team.”
