An exciting opportunity has arisen at Benchmark Sport International for a talented marketing and communications manager.
Reporting into the head of marketing, the candidate will work across Benchmark Sport’s ever expanding portfolio of events and industry-leading content spanning Sport Industry Group, Beyond Sport, Benchmark Talent, the Bloomberg Square Mile Relay series and thinkBeyond.
Responsibilities
Encompassing all elements of the marketing mix, the role holder will be responsible for:
Marketing:
- Developing and executing marketing strategies for events and projects in the UK and globally
- Working with head of marketing and external designers to create marketing collateral and branding for all events and projects
- Supporting head of marketing on the installation/placement of branding and collateral at all events and projects
- Regularly writing copy for frequent marketing emails to promote events
- Supporting media manager on creating and uploading editorial content to websites
- Managing direct mail-outs to promote events
- Managing budgets
- Managing external suppliers
- Writing photography briefs and managing photographers at events
- Creating comprehensive feedback documents for partners and sponsors after each event
Communications:
- Developing and executing communications strategies for events and projects in the UK and globally
- Generating creative content to promote events and projects through owned social media channels
- Regularly writing and distributing press releases to promote events and initiatives
- Managing PR agencies where relevant
- Inviting media to events and managing them on-site
- Proactively generating communications output related to news agenda where relevant
- Promoting Benchmark Sport and its employees as spokespeople to industry media to increase the company’s profile

Person Specification
The candidate should have/be:
- Minimum of three years’ similar/relevant experience
- Experience of working in events
- The ability to multitask and work to deadlines
- Experience of managing multiple stakeholders
- Exceptional organisation skills
- Excellent written communication skills and attention to detail
- A sound understanding of multiple social media platforms and experience in managing an organisation’s social media channels
- Experience of working within a team
- Educated to degree level or equivalent with professional qualification
- Strong project management skills, including managing external suppliers
- Knowledge of Campaign Monitor and/or an understanding of CMS systems
- A keen eye for design and a basic understanding of brands and how they work
Preferential skills:
- Experience in B2B marketing and/or communications
- Agency background and/or experience of handling multiple clients/accounts/tasks
- Experience in using Adobe Photoshop and InDesign
