Vitality has officially confirmed its partnership with England cricketer Joe Root, who takes on the role of ambassador, joining Vitality ambassadors Jessica Ennis-Hill and Jonny Wilkinson.
Root, currently the number two batsman in the world, recently starred in a string of advertisements for the brand.
The England batsman will be using his passion for healthy living to inspire people to get active and make positive changes to their health. He will be offering practical advice and motivating everyone to take steps towards lifelong wellness.
Vitality has sponsored the UK cricket test match grounds since May 2014 and the partnership with Joe sees the company further extend its association with cricket.
To officially announce the partnership, Joe paid a visit to his home club, Yorkshire County Cricket Club at Headingley, ahead of a summer of cricket with the International Test Match Series starting on 19th May.
Joe invited former team mates, his brother Billy and his father Matt to the famous stadium to share his experiences of growing up with the game and to take part in a series of cricket drills to show how people can enjoy being active through cricket.
Joe Root, England cricketer and Vitality ambassador said: “I’m really excited to be joining Vitality as an ambassador. Vitality shares my belief that everyone can take small steps today to dramatically improve their wellbeing over the long-term, regardless of their current state of health. I’m looking forward to using my role to help communicate this message and to encourage people to make positive lifestyle changes.”
Nick Read, commercial director at Vitality, said: “We are delighted to announce our new partnership with Joe. Joe is one of the world’s top sportsmen and is already an inspiration to people of all ages. It’s great to have him on board as an ambassador to share our passion for healthy living and to help us engage with and motivate a new audience.”
