Jofra Archer has agreed a partnership with the UK-based esports company, Veloce Esports, which will see the organisation launch the England cricketer’s Twitch and YouTube gaming channels.
An avid gamer since childhood Archer is one of the first British sportspeople to officially partner with an Esports team, using the agreement with Veloce to engage with his fans through games such as Fortnite, Call of Duty and FIFA.
“Although I wish I could be announcing this revolutionary partnership at a better time, esports is something I have been interested in for a very long time,” said Archer.
“I am incredibly excited to be working with the team at Veloce and most importantly to use this opportunity to promote cricket to younger audiences and get them watching and playing the game in the offline world as well.”
During the lockdown period, Veloce has been involved in a number of high profile esports events which have seen sportspeople swap their real life sport for virtual ones with the launch of the ‘Not the… Grand Prix’ series with F1 drivers Lando Norris and Charles Leclerc and other sportspeople such as Thibault Courtois.
Jamie Maclaurin, Co-Founder, Veloce Esports, said: “We are absolutely delighted to welcome Jofra Archer into the Veloce family. This is a huge moment for Veloce and a huge moment for esports. Jofra is a global superstar. We cannot wait to get started and help him achieve his goals in esports.”
Based in London, Veloce Esports launched in 2018 and runs esports teams with the likes of Fernando Alonso and Alfa Romeo as well as entering elite talent into competitions across titles such as FIFA, RocketLeague and F1 Esports.
