JP Morgan has extended its sponsorship of the media centre at Lord’s Cricket Ground for a further two years, while the ground has also been proposed as the venue for the final of the ICC Cricket World Cup in 2019.
As part of the agreement with the Marylebone Cricket Club, JP Morgan will continue to have branding around the 200-year-old ground as well as a hospitality allowance.
MCC chief executive Derek Brewer, said: ‘Everyone at MCC is delighted to continue the strategic and mutually beneficial partnership with JP Morgan.’
‘The deal will allow MCC to continue investing in cricket projects both around the world and much closer to home in the local community.’
‘The Media Centre is one of the most iconic buildings in world sport and it is fitting that a global institution such as JP Morgan will be its sponsor for another two years.’
Meanwhile, Lord’s has also been proposed as the venue for the ICC Cricket World Cup final when the tournament is staged in England and Wales in 2019 – and will host the ICC Women’s World Cup final in 2017.
The ECB will recommend to ICC that the semi-finals in the 2019 World Cup should be allocated to Old Trafford, Manchester and Warwickshire’s home of Edgbaston, with the opening game being staged at The Oval.
The tournament should see Taunton host international men’s cricket in 2019 for the first time since the1999 World Cup, when two matches were played at the County Ground.
There will also be proposed group matches for Durham, Leeds, Nottingham, Cardiff, Bristol and Southampton, subject to approval by ICC.
