Sportfive has partnered with management team Project MJK in order to seek new marketing and commercial opportunities for Jurgen Klopp.

The Hamburg-based sports marketing agency will represent the former Liverpool manager for the next three years, on behalf of Project MJK.

Sportfive, which has offices in London, has been given the brief of bolstering the 56-year-old’s global brand, with a particular focus on opportunities in the USA and Asia.

The 56-year-old recently left Liverpool following a nine-year tenure at Anfield, during which his team won eight trophies, including the Champions League in 2019, and the Premier League in 2020.

In the buildup to Klopp’s final game as Liverpool manager on 19th May, MJK and Sportfive launched a new Instagram channel for the German, which garnered 1.5 million followers and delivered 22.6 million impressions within its first day of launching.

At the time of writing, Klopp’s Instagram page now has 3.8 million followers.

Earlier this year, Sportfive launched a new Global Athlete & Team Marketing division, as the agency doubles down on athlete marketing and representation.

Ron Wiegand, SVP of Global Athlete & Team Marketing at Sportfive, said,“This global collaboration represents a monumental step forward for the [Global Athlete & Team Marketing] team at Sportfive and we are proud to have Project MJK and Jürgen Klopp on board with us.

“We couldn’t be more thrilled to successfully develop Jürgen’s brand globally including social media management, media collaborations and new authentic commercial partnerships in the next years.”

Philipp Hasenbein, Chief Operating Officer at Sportfive, added, “Jürgen Klopp is the embodiment of excellence, mentoring, emotional intelligence, leadership and long-term vision.

“His values align seamlessly with ours, and we are excited to collaborate with Project MJK to enhance Jürgen’s global reach.”
