Two of the senior members of David Beckham and Cristiano Ronaldo’s teams are set to lead a new global private equity fund in sport and entertainment, with XIX Entertainment’s former senior vice president, Simon Oliveira and Creative Artists Agency’s head of sports talent in Europe, Matthew Kay launching Doyen Global in London.
Doyen Global will focus its resources on sport and entertainment with a specific emphasis on intellectual property, talent management, angel equity, creative media platforms and brand consultancy.
Simon Oliveira is a key strategist in David Beckham’s team managing the star’s communications and image strategy for nearly nine years. At XIX he also worked across the management of Lewis Hamilton and Andy Murray.
‘Working closely with an incredible entrepreneur in Simon Fuller has given me the perfect foundation to start this new venture,’ said Simon Oliveira, MD of Doyen Global. ‘I hope with our experience in the industry we will have a distinct advantage in helping to grow a significant business. In challenging times, sport and entertainment continue to provide compelling opportunities to nurture and invest. We look forward to realising that potential.’
Matthew Kay is one of the leading professionals in sports marketing. At CAA, Matt managed the commercial strategy of global sports stars Cristiano Ronaldo and Jose Mourinho amongst others. Prior to that, Kay was commercial director of football at IMG.
Kay, MD of Doyen Global added: ‘I feel extremely privileged to have been offered the opportunity to run Doyen Global alongside Simon. Having spent many great years at CAA I felt now was the time for me to capitalise on the expertise I have gained in the industry. Now is a greater time than ever to invest in sport and I am excited by our future.’
Simon Oliveira will continue in the same capacity for Beckham and as a consultant to XIX Entertainment across sports talent at Doyen Global.
