Non-league club Kettering Town have offered to waive their £160,000 match fee in a bid to persuade TV broadcasters to screen their FA Cup fourth-round tie with Premier League club Fulham live.
FA Cup television broadcasters ITV and Setanta have decided not to show the Rockingham Road tie on 24th January live despite the game being the only definite fourth-round tie between non-league and Premier League opposition.
Blue Square Premier side Kettering are willing to change the date of the game as well as waiving their broadcast fee in a bid to get the match on live.
Neither ITV or Setanta have as yet responded to the club’s offer with the likelihood being that they will wait until the outcome of the remaining third round replays before deciding which games to broadcast.
Kettering feel that the game should be showed because of the gap between the two clubs in league places, and to raise awareness and charitable aid in Palestine, as their match shirt bares the slogan Palestine Aid.
Chairman Imraan Ladak told the club’s website: ‘We were all very disappointed when the news was announced, but we hope our offer will allow ITV or Setanta to help increase awareness of the humanitarian crisis, whilst giving Kettering, Fulham and the neutral supporter the chance to watch one of the ties of the round.’
