Kingfisher Airlines has ended its sponsorship of the Toyota F1 team by mutual agreement with immediate effect bringing an end to the contract one year early.
This decision allows Dr Vijay Mallya, the chairman and CEO of Kingfisher Airlines, to focus his Formula One activities on the Force India team – which has previously raced under the names of Jordan, Midland and Spyker in recent seasons – of which he is co-owner.
Toyota Motorsport issued a statement sayings that it has enjoyed a successful partnership with Kingfisher Airlines, collaborating on several promotional events, both in India and across the world.
However, Dr Mallya is now focusing on his new Formula One project and Kingfisher Airlines’ request for an early end to the partnership has been agreed to be in the best interests of both parties.
