La Liga is set to introduce video reviews next season, according to acting Spanish football federation president Juan Luis Larrea.
Both Serie A and the Bundesliga have already adopted the use of video assistant referees (VAR) this season, and Larrea said La Liga planned to follow suit.
The move would be quite a shift for La Liga, the only one of Europe’s top leagues yet to introduce goal-line technology, which has not been instituted amid cost concerns from La Liga president Javier Tebas.

VAR, which is used to review goals, red cards, penalties and cases of mistaken identity, has been tested across the world, in countries including Australia, Brazil and the Netherlands.
Larrea said: “Technology is now coming into football and you have to accept it.”
Larrea added that tests would be carried out in over 70 matches before the technology was rolled out across La Liga.
However, it has not been universally popular since being introduced in Italy. Gianluigi Buffon criticised VAR saying that it was “making the game ugly”.
