Lancashire Cricket Club has admitted that it is looking to sell the naming rights to their Old Trafford home.
The club is currently undertaking a £32m revamp of the stadium – that is set to include two new grandstands, a new pavilion and a supermarket.??
Earlier this year, Durham agreed a six-year deal which saw the Riverside become the Emirates Durham International Cricket Ground.??
Now Lancashire chief executive has said the club may follow suit: ‘We will explore all options, it is in our minds to sell the naming rights.’
‘But it would have to be right for the ground because Old Trafford is such an iconic name and such a strong brand,’ he added.??
Added Cumbes: ‘Half the world knows it as a football ground and the other half know it as a cricket ground.’??
The club also hopes that the redevelopment of the current stadium will secure its long-term future as an international venue – hoping to land an Ashes Test in 2013.
