Land Rover is marking its tenth season supporting grassroots rugby in the UK, through the Land Rover Premiership Rugby Cup, a series of national grassroots rugby festivals for under-11 and under-12 rugby teams.
Run in conjunction with all 12 Premiership Rugby clubs, nearly 70,000 youngsters have participated in the tournament since its inception.
The Land Rover Premiership Rugby Cup has included the likes of Newcastle Falcons’ back row forward Callum Chick, who was spotted at the grassroots rugby festival hosted at Kingston Park, whilst playing for Ponteland RFC. Chick has since gone on to captain England U20’s in between pulling on the Newcastle Falcons jersey.
Land Rover’s also supported Rugby World Cup 2015 when the brand used its status as a worldwide partner to put this aspect of the game on the global stage, through its ‘We Deal In Real’ campaign.
The ‘We Deal In Real’ campaign continues to mark Land Rover’s testimonial season, an under-11 and under-12 team from each Land Rover Premiership Rugby Cup festival will be in with a chance of winning a trip to Twickenham for the Aviva Premiership Rugby Final on 26th May, 2018. The teams will all get to meet a host of Land Rover rugby ambassadors and take part in a Land Rover Premiership Rugby Cup testimonial parade, at half time.

Chick said: “Playing for Ponteland RFC, the Land Rover Premiership Rugby Cup was always a highlight of the season. It was a chance to play against teams you may never normally come up against. It was an opportunity to develop as a player alongside your team mates and friends. I never dreamt that it would lead me to become a professional rugby player but that is the special thing about the tournament; it’s a natural stepping stone for young players to pursue their rugby dreams.”
Land Rover ambassador and former England rugby captain, Lewis Moody, commented: “Over the years, in my role as Land Rover rugby ambassador, I have had the chance to meet many of the youngsters to have taken part in the Land Rover Premiership Cup and have seen first-hand the importance of these grassroots rugby festivals. The rugby skills, values, teamwork and sheer enjoyment the young rugby players take away are invaluable to the good health of the sport.”
