Today marks the launch of Three Points, a pioneering tech-enabled law firm that will seamlessly integrate artificial intelligence and cutting-edge technologies throughout every client engagement. The firm is positioned to serve a diverse portfolio of clients, from high-profile sports organisations, professionals and entrepreneurs to established technology and sports technology businesses.
Background
Founded by Simon Leaf and Tom Murray, partners with over 25 years’ combined experience at top international firms, Three Points launches with over a dozen founder clients including high-profile athletes, football clubs and entrepreneurs, as well as well-known sports technology and media businesses.
From the outset, the firm is integrating AI platform Legora into its service delivery. Combined with operational innovation within the Excello House of Brands, this enables Three Points to move beyond the hourly rate model towards a more value-driven legal offering for clients.
“We’re building a firm that is fit for the future and one that will focus on three of the fastest-moving areas of business and law: sports, tech and commercial,” said Simon Leaf, Founding Partner of Three Points and former Head of Sport at Mishcon.
“Whilst we have historically been recognised for our high-profile sports work acting for the world’s best athletes and teams, we have developed a successful track record for advising on some ground-breaking sports tech, general tech and commercial law matters, which also evidences the increasing convergence of these three focus areas.”
Simon and Tom’s recent work includes advising on the contractual framework to host, broadcast and commercially some of the biggest boxing fights in Saudi Arabia, including those involving Anthony Joshua, and acting on landmark deals and regulatory matters across football, motor racing, boxing and a number of other sports – including Marcus Rashford’s recent move to FC Barcelona.
Technology
Technology sits at the heart of Three Points’ service delivery. The firm has partnered with Legora, a cutting-edge legal AI platform, to deliver faster, more accurate and cost-effective legal advice.
Tom Murray, Founding Partner said, “As a new firm born in the AI era and unencumbered by legacy systems, we can deliver work faster, be more efficient and collaborate effectively in line with our clients’ needs.
“This technological foundation enhances rather than replaces the human element of our profession and has already helped Three Points secure mandates from some of Europe’s most exciting sports, tech and creative businesses.”
Alex Fortescue-Webb, Head of UK&I at Legora, said, “The Three Points team has an outstanding track record of advising on significant sports and sports tech transactions, regulatory matters, and supporting fast-growing legal technology businesses. We are delighted to partner with the firm to showcase how Legora can empower firms and lawyers across the legal sector.”
Social Responsibility
The firm has also been founded as a sustainable, community-minded enterprise and will commit at least 5% of its time/ profits each year to charitable initiatives and community causes. This reflects the partners’ extensive history of pro bono work and supporting those unable to afford access to legal services. Simon was recently listed on the Law Society’s inaugural Pro Bono Recognition List and in recent times has worked particularly closely on a pro bono basis with a number of organisations, such as Women In Football and Bloomsbury Football Foundation. The latter is a charity that uses the power of football to improve the lives of over 5,000 young people every week and becomes a Founding Charity Partner on the launch of Three Points.
Charlie Hyman, Founder and CEO of Bloomsbury said, “Simon and Tom have been generous supporters of Bloomsbury Football Foundation for many years, demonstrating a genuine commitment to our mission of transforming young people’s lives through football. When they told us about Three Points and the vision to embed social responsibility at the heart of the firm, we didn’t hesitate and jumped at the opportunity to become a Founding Charity Partner. Their dedication to giving back isn’t just words on paper; it’s something we’ve witnessed first-hand through years of partnership. We’re excited to continue this journey with them and to see the positive impact Three Points will have on communities alongside their impressive list of technology, commercial and sports clients.”
