Rugby union club Leicester Tigers has struck a lucrative shirt sponsorship deal with construction services firm Caterpillar.
The five-year deal, believed to be worth in the region of £6m, begins at the start of next season replacing the club’s existing sponsorship contract with Bradstone.
It is thought that the sponsorship is the most lucrative to ever be signed in European domestic rugby union.
Aggregate company Bradstone will appear on the Leicester Tigers’ shirt for the final time this weekend as the club defends its title in front of 80,000 fans at Twickenham against London Wasps.
The new sponsorship deal will also see Caterpillar given the naming rights for Leicester’s new north stand upon completion.
In February, the club was given planning permission for its £60m stadium development, which will increase the capacity of Welford Road to 30,000. The first phase of the development will see capacity increase from 17,500 to 23,500.
