Leicester Tigers have appointed Andrea Pinchen as the club’s new CEO, and have confirmed the departure of Simon Cohen with immediate effect.

Pinchen, who was previously the club’s Chief Operating Officer, will take on the role of CEO, replacing Cohen who held the position for eight years.

He had previously become Head of Rugby Operations at the club in 2005 and joined the Board in 2011 before being given the position of CEO in 2012. The club last won the Gallagher Premiership in 2013, but since then has suffered a period of decline and Cohen has revealed that he has been subjected to online death threats.

Peter Tom, Chairman, Leicester Tigers, confirmed Cohen’s departure: “Simon has served Tigers for 15 years, playing a vital role in the professionalisation of the club’s activities on and off the field. After many years of service and in the context of the challenges presented by COVID-19, Simon and the Board agreed now was the right time for him to step down as Chief Executive. We thank him for his contribution and wish him the very best for the future.

“I’m delighted that Andrea has agreed to become the club’s Chief Executive. She brings huge passion, commitment and energy to the club and was the Board’s unanimous choice. We are sure she will be a great success in her new role and we wish her every success.”

Leicester Tigers are currently 11th in the Gallagher Premiership. The rugby season in England below the top flight has been cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic, but the 2019/20 Premiership season could be completed when it is safe to do so
