Liberty Mutual Insurance Europe has announced a new partnership with England’s nine Test Match cricket grounds for the 2013 season that will see the brand become the Official Insurance Partner of the Test Match Grounds for the year, covering all domestic fixtures and international matches against Australia and New Zealand including the Investec Ashes.

As part of the deal, the LMI logo will be visible at nine of the country’s most well-known cricket grounds – Edgbaston, Swalec Cardiff, Emirates International Cricket Ground Durham, Headingley, Lord’s, The Kia Oval, Emirates Old Trafford, Trent Bridge and The Ageas Bowl.

Sean Rocks, the president and managing director of LMIE, said: ‘It’s great news for both us and our broker panel that we’ve been able to sign this sponsorship deal. While we are all big cricket fans and proud to support England, from a business perspective, having the Liberty brand highly visible at the country’s top cricket grounds and in television coverage will help raise our profile considerably in the UK.’

Nick Hoyle, managing director of Essentially, added: ‘As the exclusive commercial agents to the Test Match Grounds we continue to have a strong relationship with the Grounds and the ECB. I am thrilled to announce this new exciting partnership for what is an exciting year of cricket and we look forward to working with Liberty Mutual.’

Meanwhile, former England captain Andrew Strauss has also been named as a spokesman for the brand.

Strauss, who retired from professional cricket at the end of the 2012 season, told Insurance Age: ‘It’s an exciting time and we have chosen the right time to do this. I am very excited for all concerned to be doing something quite different and to extend Liberty’s brand recognition on a national level.’
