Mass participation sports engagement agency, Limelight Sports, has launched Race the World, a global cycling race which gives both male and female amateur athletes the opportunity to compete in a new team challenge.

After unveiling details of the challenge last month, cyclists can now enter the event that takes on five legs in four continents over a four month period.

Limelight, who created and own the rights to Race the World has secured bike manufacturer Wilier Triestina, as its official bike supplier.

Wilier Triestina will supply the race bikes which will be specifically designed for the unique challenge, while tyre manufacture Schwalbe has become the official tyre partner for the event.

Race the World’ race director, Gary Willis – also an ex-Team GB coach – said: ‘This is a unique new event aimed at cyclists who want to push themselves to the limit and be part of an historic new sporting challenge. The event is a huge undertaking and will offer those taking part a totally unique set of experiences.’

‘There will be cyclists with different levels of ability and experience but success will depend on good preparation and teamwork,’

The 1st leg of the race will start in London on 9th August 2015 and will end with the 5th leg in Miami, Florida, on 14th November 2015, via trips to Asia and Australia.

In total, each team completing all the legs will clock up a total of 17,500km on the saddle. Each leg lasts two weeks and racers have the option to take on as many legs of the challenge as they choose.
